Making North East Lincolnshire the place to do digital and creative things
Welcome to the consultation on a new Creative & Digital Industries Strategy for North East Lincolnshire.
We’re looking for your views on how North East Lincolnshire can become the place where people want to develop and run technology-based businesses, and where creativity can flourish.

General
- What potential is there to grow the creative & digital sector in NE Lincolnshire?
- What are the current strengths and opportunities of the sector in NE Lincolnshire?
- What are the current weaknesses and threats?
- What are the barriers to growth?
- What is the most effective way to raise the profile of NE Lincolnshire as an excellent place to start/grow creative and digital businesses?
Education and Training
- What do you think about NE Lincolnshire as a place to train for a career in the digital & creative sector?
- What are the current and future skills needs required by the sector?
- How can these skills needs be met?
- Where do local graduates of IT, Creative and Media courses start their careers?
Business Performance
- How are businesses in the sector performing at the moment?
- What are the primary constraints/future opportunities?
Infrastructure
- Is there sufficient business accommodation for starting/growing digital and creative businesses in NE Lincs?
- Does North East Lincs need a building which would be a hub as a growth pole for the sector? Is there an existing building which could play this role?
- What is the potential to promote the use of ICT/innovation solutions to encourage market diversification both within and outside the sector?
- How can we support existing companies to adopt technology to improve their financial performance?
- What needs to be done to ensure that NE Lincolnshire has a future proof communications infrastructure?

We are Sero Consulting Ltd, based in Sheffield and working with partners across Yorkshire and the Humber, and the rest of the country. We have been commissioned to have a look at North East Lincolnshire and make some suggestions as to how Creative and Digital businesses and individuals can thrive in the area.

1. Q. What potential is there to grow the creative & digital sector in NE Lincolnshire – A. business education and links with industry to help business pitch for commercial opportunities (knowledgebase – Broiadcast magazine)
2. Q.What are the current strengths and opportunities of the sector in NE Lincolnshire A. Broadcast studio facilites – local community TV channel Channel 7
3. Q. What are the current weaknesses and threats? A. No support from the council to grow broiadcast studio space and creative industry
4. Q.What are the barriers to growth? A limitations and lack of aspirations to be a funstioning part of the creative world (london centric)
5. Q.What is the most effective way to raise the profile of NE Lincolnshire as an excellent place to start/grow creative and digital businesses? A at least have Yorkshire Forward publicising it – nothing on their website about the largest port in the country, Council website, N E lincolnshire Tourist board website – very disappointing – need to portray vibrant area
Education and Training
1. What do you think about NE Lincolnshire as a place to train for a career in the digital & creative sector? A. We have a skillset Media Academy one of only 17 in the country
2. Q What are the current and future skills needs required by the sector? A work ready individuals
3. How can these skills needs be met? A linking courese and tranioning with industry
4. Where do local graduates of IT, Creative and Media courses start their careers? A Grimsby Institute
Business Performance
1. How are businesses in the sector performing at the moment? A Ticking over under recession
2. What are the primary constraints/future opportunities? A Working with Salford opportunity (northern net installed at Grimsby Institute)
